Fr. James Mary McInerney, OFM Conv
23 High Street
It is a wonderful privilege for us to have a presence in “England’s Nazareth”, as we respond to the invitation to assist with the life and ministry at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. Three friars currently serve the Shrine through participation in Pilgrim programmes and liturgies. Our prayerful and pastoral presence based in the heart of the village also gives the opportunity to engage with local residents and all those who work at the Shrine in various capacities. Many thousands of people annually make their way to Walsingham so that, as Our Lady said in a vision in 1061, “…they may find succour.” Healing and wholeness of body, mind and spirit lies at the heart of pilgrimage to Walsingham, mediated through the joy of the Gospel, especially seen through Our Lady’s “Yes” to God at the Annunciation.
